About Growing Math

Growing Math is a free, new platform to provide educators the tools and training they need to best serve students in tribal areas, rural communities and urban cities with Indigenous populations. 

Is your school struggling with any of the following?

  • Math achievement;
  • Engagement (i.e. students actually completing their work);
  • Teachers’ time demands;
  • Thinking there needs to be more culturally reflective curriculum

Thanks to a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Growing Math is available at NO COST to schools or programs serving Indigenous students within the U.S.

We are looking for teachers to participate in the Growing Math project, which will provide classroom-ready lessons and games that combine math, Indigenous culture and agricultural science. These standards-aligned lesson plans can be easily used for in-person instruction, in a hybrid model or for distance learning. The project also includes teacher training/professional development and technical support. 

Growing Math is available for Grades 3-8. Teachers can complete asynchronous (self-paced) training by clicking on the “Asynchronous (Self-Paced) Training” box on our homepage or the link below.

Asynchronous (Self-Paced) Training

There is no cost to participate as the project was fully funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and developed by 7 Generation Games. Because the grant ended, we no longer can pay a stipend for teachers who complete the training. Training is still available, free, online and can be done on your own time.

Growing Math is funded by a $1 million COVID-19 Rapid Response grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to create solutions to the challenges arising in education during the global pandemic.
